Strange Similarities

I was looking through pitchfork's "overlooked records of 2011" feature today and came across a disturbing discovery.

Turns out the album is titled Absence and is by an Australian band called SNOWMAN. I was a little taken aback by this because, for those of you who are familiar, the album artwork for Camping is remarkably similar.

So naturally, as someone who never listened much to the postmodernist edict that everything's already been done before, I went looking for the release date of Absence. Turns out it released on March 22nd, 2011... 21 days after Camping. Now I'm not meaning to boast but I think it's quite obvious that we thought of it first!!!!!!

But here's where things got stranger. Intrigued by this new find, I decided to dig up a little more info on the Perth born, London based rock band. I learned that they are splitting up due to two of the members moving to Iceland and having a child together, yet they are still releasing Absence as a sort of posthumous release.

But then I saw their band photo.

There are certainly some strange similarities.
